The Homeless Children & Youth fund supports the homeless program at Eau Claire Area School District, offering resources for the many needs of students who experience homelessness. This fund supports school supplies, winter gear, transportation and more to help students and families in need, so that students may succeed in school despite struggles at home.
The Wisconsin Elks Association has a local BPO Lodge chapter that recently reached out to have an impact with this fund and our students in need. The group is assembling hygiene kits that include toothbrushes and paste, floss, deodorant, shampoo/conditioner, combs and more for the homeless program’s families. Muriel and George Myers coordinate grants for the Eau Claire Elks. In addition to assembling kits, the Myers’ stopped by with a $1,500 grant from the Eau Claire Elks Lodge for the Homeless Children & Youth Fund. “Our Elks Lodge is honored to play a small part in helping the children of our community,” Muriel shared. This gift will support school supplies, transportation costs, and gear for ECASD students in need.
Dani Claesges, Homeless Program Coordinator for Eau Claire Area School District was touched to learn of the Elks Lodge’s interest in helping students who need it most. “We really appreciate this amazing gift to provide necessary items to students experiencing homelessness,” Dani shared. “They make it possible for homeless students to go to school with the items needed to be ready to learn, just like their peers.”
