The Eau Claire Area School District has celebrated countless graduating classes over the years, each class generating its own treasured memories in the halls of their schools. Members of Memorial High School’s class of 1967 recently celebrated their 50th class reunion, tipping their hats to their cherished Old Abe memories. The class decided to make a splash with their reunion, so they made an impactful $10,000 gift to the Eau Claire Public Schools Foundation to pay tribute to their education and their school friendships.
“Fifty-one years ago, as Old Abes, we did not realize how significant the friendships we developed would be to our lives,” Art Close shared. Close is an active member of the class and remains dear friends with many of his classmates. “The Class of 1967 would like to commemorate those times with a donation to the Eau Claire Public Schools.”
Principal Trevor Kohlhepp was thrilled to hear of the news of the class of 1967’s generosity. “Memorial is truly grateful for this thoughtful gift,” Kohlhepp, a Memorial graduate himself, said. “It’s great when our alumni are willing to give back. We can’t say thank you enough to the class of 67’!”
The Eau Claire Public Schools Foundation has a variety of funds and ways to give. Board Chair Dr. Blenda Yun is grateful for our graduates and their generosity. “The Eau Claire Area School District offers an exceptional education and experience for our students. Memorial’s Class of 1967 making this generous gift celebrates that, and ensures that those experiences and opportunities live on for ECASD students forever!”
